Mapping for EFEST 2021
PS-1 is an original film for architectural projection mapping. Kedr Studio developed the concept, script, and storyboards, then produced the 2D/3D graphics, animation, sound, and final master for the show.

Task and context
EFEST 2021 required a self-contained architectural mapping film for the facade of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. The festival theme was space, humanity, and the universe. PS-1 follows the first artificial Earth satellite after it loses contact with home and tries to find its way back.
What Kedr delivered
Kedr Studio handled the full content-production cycle: concept and script development, storyboards, 2D and 3D graphics, animation, sound, and the final show master. The content was authored and produced by Kedr Studio.
Technologies
- Adobe After Effects for compositing, 2D graphics, and final assembly;
- Cinema 4D for 3D scene creation and animation;
- sound design and mixing as part of the complete audiovisual film.
Venue and constraints
The film was composed around the rhythm of the historic facade — its columns, windows, and central portico. Projectors, media servers, mapping calibration, and technical show operation were outside Kedr’s scope; the studio was responsible for content production only.
Launch result
PS-1 was included in the official EFEST light programme on the facade of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. It ran as part of a looping mapping programme over two evenings — 8 and 9 October 2021, from 19:00 to 22:00 — with the programme repeating every 15 minutes. A regional photo report confirms the first-night presentation of PS-1 and the international line-up of participating media artists.
