Projection Mapping and Interactive VR for the RSLYA Museum
Two museum installations about the book: projection mapping across a relief wall and interactive VR for a NOON binocular viewer, delivered from concept and content through programming and launch.
The book moves beyond the page
For the Museum of the Electronic Book at the Russian State Library for Young Adults, Kedr created two self-contained digital installations: projection mapping on a wall relief and an interactive literary VR experience for a NOON binocular viewer.

The relief becomes a screen
The decorative composition was assembled from cardboard forms with different geometries. We developed the concept and narrative, produced the graphics and animation, then aligned the image precisely across the physical planes and completed the show in Resolume.
Narrative
The history of writing and print unfolds through printers, pages, movable type, and the architecture of the book.
Content
Illustration, 2D/3D animation, and transitions form one film designed for a non-standard surface.
Venue
Masks, seams, and brightness are calibrated on the real forms; Resolume handles the final composition and playback.
From page to volume
The book became both subject and compositional system. Pages, frames, and portraits begin as graphic elements and then align with the physical facets of the installation.

Physical relief
Cardboard planes become part of the edit
Literature surrounds the viewer
The binocular opens into a fantasy library. Three doors lead to independent literary worlds, where objects come alive, reveal facts, and offer small interactive challenges.
Aladdin and the Magic Lamp
Jars, treasure, weapons, and a secret exit respond to gaze and reveal details of the eastern tale.
The Mad Tea Party
The Alice in Wonderland scene combines animated characters, objects, and riddles.
The Night Before Christmas
Gogol’s palace episode comes alive through characters and details of the space.
Gaze replaces the controller
The binocular has no handheld interface. The application has to infer intent from gaze, provide clear feedback, and activate an object without accidental triggers.
Look
The cursor settles on an interactive object.
Hold
A progress ring confirms an intentional choice.
Open
An animation, information card, or scene transition begins.
Adapting to NOON
We tuned the stereo pair, camera separation and convergence, cursor sensitivity, and scene behavior for the actual optics. A proximity sensor moves the system between standby and active playback.

Two systems, one team
Concept and narrative

Both installations in operation
A digital layer that extends the museum
Mapping emphasizes the material wall composition, while VR opens a space that does not physically exist in the room. Together they provide two scales of engagement with the book: a shared experience through light and architecture, and a personal one through the binocular viewer. The permanent exhibition opened to visitors on 27 April 2022.
